Masculinity and the maintaining of it in the face of modern day grooming is what poses a threat to many men. It is the misguided illusion that good grooming practices will alter how people see you, should you divulge that you visit a skin care clinic or specialist barber. The fact remains however that it is one of the easiest ways to increase your attractiveness, both on the outside and on the inside.
Masculinity and grooming
Grooming is key to harnessing your inner man, you know that powerful, confident, in-control man that women are drawn to. Besides the obvious ‘at-home’ grooming, there are many mental tools and techniques available to the modern man. Take skin care treatments and injectables for instance. The way neurotoxins a.k.a Botox or Dysport and fillers are used on men are different. An experienced medical aesthetics doctor will accentuate your masculinity. By simply maintaining or enhancing your existing features, making you look refreshed and youthful, without losing any of the masculinity of your features.
Many men are realising and embracing the benefits of a little jab here. It is no longer taboo to erase fatigue lines, plump up unhealthy-looking hollows or tighten a slackening jawline. Best of all, there is no downtime so no one will be any the wiser.
Let’s take a closer look!
Anti-wrinkle solutions
– Botulinum toxin
Possibly the most well know anti-ageing solution anti-wrinkle injectables have been used safely for many years. Firstly for medical purposes and later as an anti-ageing solution to decrease the visible effects of ageing. It works by temporarily deactivating muscle contractions and as a result, stops deep frowns or wrinkles from worsening.
Because men have both a thicker skin and better-developed muscles, the dosage required may be more than that of a female counterpart. The rule of thumb is between 1.5 and 2 times the amount of Botulinum a woman would receive. The treatment lasts for approximately three months.
Our advice: Always go to a trained, specialised doctor who knows where to place the injection and how much to inject for best results.
Loss of volume solutions
– Dermal Fillers
As we age we tend to lose facial volume, for men this can be even more pronounced thanks to active lifestyles and environmental damage such as sun damage. Deep folds tend to form around the nose and mouth and the under-eye area, and cheek area will start to look hollow. This process hardens the male features making the face look gaunt and permanently tired.
By simply injecting a dermal filler into areas that have lost volume. The areas treated include: under the eyes, the temples, cheek hollows and deep-seated wrinkles. This process alone can take years off a man’s face and make him look much healthier.
Fillers such as the very popular Restylane are most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally made by the body. Hyaluronic acid absorbs multiple times its own weight in water.
The treatment lasts between six and nine months.
Before you inject
Do your homework, find a reputable aesthetic practice and check the qualifications of the injecting doctors. Doctors need regular training as well as qualifications in the field. Word of mouth is also a good reference.
Beware of bargain offers, which could mean the doctors are either not qualified or that they are using counterfeit products.
For a good result, it pays to go with the professionals.
