Your Festive Food Mood: A Mindful Eating Guide For the Holidays
Body:
12 Dec 2022
Known as the season of excess, as you sip that glass of bubbles by the pool, remember to enjoy your year-end treats. Remember that while it’s easy to give over to all the delicious indulgences and your food mood, a balanced approach means treat days and mindful eating. Sound far too boring? Promise, with the right thinking you’ll be saying yes to all the braai’s, loving your Christmas lunch and planning your New Year’s Eve cocktails. It just takes thinking about food as health versus something that’s just pleasure.
Mindful Eating: The Diet That’s Not a Diet
If the word diet fills you with thoughts of tasteless food, tiny portions and a hungry tummy, think again. The Renewal Institute Diet (RID) means clean eating to keep you full but with what your body needs to lose or keep your weight in check. This means that yes, while you be reaching for a mince pie round about now, you can keep the rest of your nutrition healthy and balanced. It doesn’t have to be all ice-cream, take out and cheese and wine (as nice as that sounds!) Another bonus about the RID plan is its medical approach to weight. As well as the low GL eating plan, the RID Diet means healthy supplementation and hCG injections to help you meet your goals.
Additionally, you’ll have access to a nutritionist, doctor or nursing sister to monitor your progress – and that’ll help keep you motivated. You may think it’s a bit much to start all this know – right on the eve of gammon and roast potato season. But the new year is just around the corner, and if you’re determined to see a heathier more svelte you in the mirror during the course of next year, well here’s to that resolution! Don’t make those wishes as the clock strikes midnight on 1 January – do your research and organising now!
Up Your Food Mood: Here’s to Your Health
Feeling the drain of the pre-festive chaos? You’re definitely not alone there. And while eating right (and yes, exercising) certainly helps with energy levels, certain foods are actually known to boost your mood. Fatty fish for instance (super charged with omega-3 fatty acids) are essential to eat or supplement into your diet. Why? Well, your body can’t produce them on its own.
Another goodie to have on your side are eggs and these are high in antioxidant Vitamin D. High Potency D3 for instance, not only may keep your brain healthy, but also helps your bones, heart and overall immunity. It also may assist the body to regulate inflammation. If you feel the year – and it’s on-the-go eating – has meant your system has become bogged down, perhaps it’s time for your body to have a real cleanse. Especially before you feast some more, or as a fresh start to the New Year.
A Detoxification Infusion Cocktail means a chance to rid your system of toxins, giving your body a chance to heal and help it fight disease naturally. This is a very mindful step to take, especially if you’re wanting to adjust your eating habits and focus on feeling happier and healthier and not giving in to your food mood.
Moderation is key
Ready to set yourself up for a season of enjoyment rather than a season of excess? That’s the way to think about the time ahead as you dive into the holidays. Have the best time, just do it with a balanced mindset. Cheers to you and your health journey.
